Alex Nikitin has been coaching swimming at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland, Oregon since 1994, until he retired from full-time coaching in 2018. He has been involved with Lake Oswego Swim Club, the top-performing swim club in Oregon for the last 5 years as “Coach Emeritus”. He is actively involved with the Oregon Swimming community and beyond as a consult and mentor to coaches and he conduct clinics / educational seminars for LSCs, clubs, coaches, and swimmers. Additionally, Alex serve on the Board Of Directors of Oregon Swimming (State Governing Body).

Alex Niktin is a founder of Parametrix Research. The intriguing possibility of bringing the science and the art of coaching closer together has become his lifelong interest. The pursuit of that lofty goal, as well as making sport science accessible to the grassroots coaches.

 Talk I  “The Intersection of Science and Art in Coaching Swimmers”

 In this talk, Alex discusses how a paradigm shift in swimming is happening, what he believes it is, and the implications of rejecting either part of the coaching portfolio. This talk blends theory and practical aspects to help coaches evolve their training models.

Talk II “From Fundamentals to Finesse: Coaching with Precision”

– How I implemented systematic changes in my pre-existing training program. This talk has a practical focus with multiple examples, “how-tos”, and backstories.
