Ulrika Sandmark is a swimmer who has gone all the way. From being a swimmer with distance focus, via a road as a coach, the national team for Sweden juniors and seniors and up to where she are today.
It is no coincidence that two of Sweden’s largest Olympic sports, swimming and athletics are led by women. Women full of wisdom and with an interest in the individuals in the team. Ulrika usually says that “it is not only the athlete in the swimsuit that is the most interesting but the whole person behind it”. This is her way to lift leadership and thoughts beyond seconds and tenths.
During the years 1996-2012 Ulrika was head coach in one of Swedens best swimming clubs, Väsby Simsällskap. At the same time, she acted as the national team captain. She is an educated teacher in English, German and Swedish, but this job she has put on hold since she became the national team captain for the 2013 senior national team.
Now it is just swimming – when she does not gather energy with her beloved dog, Diezel!
